Right Place, Right Time?
Here's something they don't teach you in journalism class. I crashed at a friend's house
on a Wednesday night. Leaving her apartment early Thursday morning, I walk out into
the hallway, right into officials from the FBI and the state Inspector General's office
banging on her neighbor's door.

The clock on my fifteen minutes of fame started ticking when I was sent to cover for the
Wall Street Journal the testimony of baseball players Mark McGwire, Curt Schilling and
others before the House Government Reform Committee. My face ended up over
McGwire's shoulder as he sobbed through his testimony on ESPN, CNN, and all the other
networks. Below is an article that ran the day of the hearing.

A Wall Street Journal article of mine also ended up in a McGraw Hill economics
newsletter.
